This is another view of the old buildings at Lee’s Ferry (see yesterday’s Daily Photo). The stone structure with the vegas are typical of buildings there in the late 19th century and early 20th century. At that time, Lee’s Ferry was the only crossing of the Colorado River between Moab, Utah and Needles, California.

These vigas (rough-hewn roof timbers or rafters) are common in southwest architecture, especially stone and adobe buildings. Lee’s Ferry is located on the Colorado River about 7.5 miles southwest of Page, AZ and the Glen Canyon Dam, and 9 miles south of the Arizona-Utah border. This area is contains some of the most beautiful hillsides and, as the original location of a ferry dock, the Colorado River as seen at this link.

I seem to like to photograph rusty things. This is the inside of a truck bed sitting out at the Tiber Canyon Ranch. I also seem to have this way of seeing faces in old objects (much like the Door With the Windows photo I posted several weeks ago). There is one very distinct face in the wall of this truck bed, but there may be other, more subtle, human and animal faces there. How many do you see? This photo was taken under a tree on the grounds of the Tiber Canyon Ranch in San Luis Obispo. They have a number of interesting items arranged under the trees near their house.
