Bird Rock is a well known landmark on the 17-mile drive in Pebble Beach along California’s Central Coast. As its name implies, many birds find it a comfortable resting place as do many seal lions and seals.

Of all the Steve Jobs’ quotes being printed, this line in his 2005 Stanford graduation speech says it all to me:
“…have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.”
Steve Jobs always felt like an old friend to me. I bought one of the first Apple II computers, being thrilled with the potential to do, at home, what I previously had to use punch cards to do at the University’s mainframe computer center. I’ve been a very loyal and proud user of Apple products ever since 1977. Apple products are a part of my life and have always been a positive partner in what I do. I’ll miss Steve Jobs and his vision, his creativity and his wonderful ability to present the new products Apple is producing. I know that I am but one of millions and millions of people in this world who feel this way. I grieve for his wife and children who have lost an incredible husband and father.
Below is a version of the iconic “Think Different” commercial that launched this ad campaign in 1997. This version is narrated by Steve.

"Neck Pumpkins" at the Earthbound Farm's Farm Stand
(Click on the photo to enlarge.)
Neck Pumpkins are another variety of pumpkins at the Earthbound Farm’s Farm Stand. Many say it is a favorite for pies, bread and other fall pumpkin recipes. They have a smooth tan skin with a very long neck that is all solid orange flesh. The seeds are only in the rounded cavity at the bottom. They are quite flavorful, stringless and are easy to peel and cook.

I had requests to see the whole pumpkin after I posted my photograph of part of the pumpkin yesterday. So, here is the whole thing (sort of). Seeing the larger version does give one a better sense of why it’s called the Cinderella Pumpkin.
My thanks to Earthbound Farm, first for having its Farm Stand here in Carmel Valley, for providing such wonderful food and for having such a warm and welcoming staff in their Farm Stand. If you live near this area, it’s worth a trip there to see their display of many varieties of pumpkins that you can purchase. Their Organic Corn Maze maze opens tomorrow, October 1st, as well.
