This hippo had just finished, what our safari guide referred to as, “a happy moment” with his female hippo companion. So, you tell me… Do Hippos Smile? (Click on the photo to enlarge.)

P.S. If you watch the slideshow at the top of the Blog Home Page, you can catch a glimpse of “the happy moment” (ISFW).

Masai warriors often pierce their ears then stretch the opening to accommodate really beautiful ear ornamentation. This photograph was of the chief of the village we visited. The woven headdress is typical as well.

This is a proud Masai Warrior who really enjoyed being photographed. You can see it in his expression. This photo was taken with a Canon EOS 40D, EF17-40mm f/4L lens, 1/400 sec at f/6.3, ISO 200 on SanDisk Extreme IV Digital Film.

The rich color and warmth of the beautiful Masai Mara savannah is evident in this photograph. I was continually in awe of the vast openness of the savannah and how beautiful the color of tall grasses were. From the dirt roads we travelled on, we could see for many miles to the foothills.

This was one of the first Masai children I saw on our trip to Kenya. We got to spend some time in a Masai village and there were lots of children running and playing outside as the sun was close to setting, but this child just stopped and looked at me. He appeared to be about 2 years old and was dressed in this bright red shirt. There was something very special about him that I can’t seem to put into words, but I think this image tells its own story.
