Speaking of time capsule, I would love to know your backup procedure. How often, what programs, off site, etc.
I do two types of backup. First, I have a 1 TB LaCie hard drive attached by Firewire to my MacPro. I use Time Machine on the MacPro to do its regular backups automatically. That hard drive just stays at home, always attached to the computer. The second type of backup I do regularly (maybe every 2 -3 weeks, and always before system updates) is done to a second LaCie hard drive that I keep in the safe deposit box at the bank. I go and get it to do backups. It is partitioned into several different partitions so that I can do another back up of my MacPro, and other partitions for our laptops. I just, sequentially, hook that drive up to each computer and run a copy of SuperDuper on each computer with the drive attached. When I’m done with that group of backups, I take the drive back to the bank.
I think it’s important to keep one backup drive at some location other than where your computer is or computers are. This way, I always have two different backups of the MacPro (has my photo library and most important stuff), and one backup (kept at the bank) of our laptops. Another way to do this with multiple computers at the same location would be to use Time Capsule to backup both of them. Then you could also have another drive and use SuperDuper, then keep that one at the bank.
