These vigas (rough-hewn roof timbers or rafters) are common in southwest architecture, especially stone and adobe buildings. Lee’s Ferry is located on the Colorado River about 7.5 miles southwest of Page, AZ and the Glen Canyon Dam, and 9 miles south of the Arizona-Utah border. This area is contains some of the most beautiful hillsides and, as the original location of a ferry dock, the Colorado River as seen at this link.

The photo was taken with a Canon EOS D60, EF17-40mm f/4L lens, 1/750 sec at f/5.6, ISO 200 on SanDisk Extreme IV Digital Film, and processed with Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.
