The Lion Approaches

This female Lion walked alongside our Land Rover in the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania always looking forward, and, totally disinterested in us.
The photo was taken with a Canon EOS 40D, Sigma APO 150-500mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Lens, 1/400 sec at f/11, ISO 200 on SanDisk Extreme IV Digital Film.

I saw the eyes first…scary. then when I opened the window further , I saw the tongue. I agree with Cathleen…it made me laugh…mostly because you thought to do it that way.
It’s kind of scary. It feels really close to the animal and it’s about to lick your face off and not in a good way. Awesome work as usual. I like when you feel like you are in the picture.

Can you believe you were ever this close to such a beautiful big cat? I like that there’s some humor in this one too, that pink tongue is amazing.
