The Masai tribe build their villages in circles with surrounding fences of timber poles and tree branches to protect their livestock at night from predators. Their homes are based on a simple frame structure and made from materials like timber poles, twigs, branches, soil, cow dung and grass. The roof is dried grass laid over the frame. Soil, cow dung and ash form the plaster used to finish the interior and exterior of the house. They are quite small, about 10 feet x 15 feet by 5 feet tall, and are traditionally built by the women.

Amazing to think how other people live and how beautiful it can be.
Beautiful! Love all the texture and shapes captured in this photo . . . the simplicity of these small circular houses all laid out in a large circle, and the clouds shaped like the treetops (or treetops shaped like clouds?)
Wow, that’s cool. At first, I thought it was a hole in the ground.
Thanks Brendon. Glad you like it. I can see how it might have looked that way on the first glance.
