These rusted gears are part of the coffee roasting machinery at the Karen Blixen House, now the Karen Blixen Museum outside of Nairobi, Kenya. This machinery sits adjacent to the farmhouse where Karen Blixen, author of the novel Out of Africa, lived from 1914 to 1931. She attempted to develop and run a coffee farm, but it did poorly suffering various tragedies including a factory fire and continually bad harvests.
