This beautiful, small copper still is sold by the Elfin Herb Farm in Los Osos, CA., and can be used to steam distill undiluted, essential oils from high quality plants. It is about 8 inches tall and is a miniature version of a larger copper still used at the Elfin Herb Farm to produce the essential oils they sell.

I photographed this beautiful copper still at the Tiber Canyon Ranch‘s annual Olive Oil Festival in San Luis Obispo, CA.

The photo was taken with a Canon EOS 40D, EF70-200mm f/4L IS lens, 1/1000 sec at f/4, on SanDisk Extreme IV Digital Film. The RAW image was processed on my iPad 2 using Nik Softwares’s Snapseed App.

Leafy Sea Dragon (Click to enlarge)

The leafy Sea Dragon at the Monterey Bay Aquarium looks like a drifting clump of seaweed. It is found along the southern and western coasts of Australia. These seahorse cousins disguise themselves as seaweed with dozens of leaflike fins. The fins are not used for propulsion, but serve only for camouflage. They grow to about 8-10 inches in length.

These photos were taken with a Canon EOS 40D, EF17-40mm f/4L lens, 1/90 sec at f/4.0, ISO 1000 on SanDisk Extreme IV Digital Film.

The J. Paul Getty Museum is at the Getty Center in Los Angeles. I’ve previously posted a couple of interior photographs on this blog. The layout design of these shrubs and the pool of water in which they are contained are very interesting.

This is a single photo processed as an HDR (High Dynamic Range) image. The photo was taken with a Canon EOS 40D, EF17-40mm f/4L lens, 1/50 sec at f/14, ISO 400 on SanDisk Extreme IV Digital Film.

I frequently saw a Red-Tailed Hawk sitting on this No Trespassing sign alongside a golf course in Pebble beach.

Lee’s Ferry is located on the Colorado River about 7.5 miles southwest of Page, AZ and the Glen Canyon Dam, and 9 miles south of the Arizona-Utah border. It’s the former location of a ferry established y John D. Lee, a Mormon settler. Today, the site is used primarily for fishing and launching rafts. (Source: Wikipedia)

The river was behind me when I took this photograph. The sky and clouds in Arizona can be absolutely magnificent.

Photo taken with a Canon EOS D60, EF17-40mm f/4L lens, 1/125 sec at f/19, ISO 200 on Lexar Digital Film. Originally 3 images at different exposures processed as an HDR photograph with Photomatix Pro.
