The Masai tribe build their villages in circles with surrounding fences of timber poles and tree branches to protect their livestock at night from predators. Their homes are based on a simple frame structure and made from materials like timber poles, twigs, branches, soil, cow dung and grass. The roof is dried grass laid over the frame. Soil, cow dung and ash form the plaster used to finish the interior and exterior of the house. They are quite small, about 10 feet x 15 feet by 5 feet tall, and are traditionally built by the women.

The photo was taken with a Canon EOS D60, EF17-40mm f/4L lens, 1/500 sec at f/11, ISO 200 on Lexar Digital Film. It was post processed as an HDR image using Photomatix Pro.
