Another Great Kauai Sunrise

Here is another great sunrise I got to shoot while we were in Kauai. The sun comes up over the horizon on a beautiful Kauai morning. It really is a magical place for photography and we were so fortunate to have a room with a deck facing the sunrise from which I could shoot these images.

The Rainbow Eucalyptus tree has this beautifully colored bark. Patches of outer bark are shed annually at different times, showing the bright-green inner bark. This then darkens and matures to give blue, purple, orange and then maroon tones.

The photo was taken with a Canon EOS 40D, EF24-105mm f/4L lens, 1/60 sec at f/9.5, ISO 640 on SanDisk Extreme IV Digital Film.

The Door is Open

The Door Is Open

Can't help wonder what's inside? The abandoned Aloha Theater in Hanapepe, Kauai.

(Click on the photo to enlarge it.)

This is the side door to the 1930’s Aloha Theatre in Hanapepe, Kauai. The wood on the old door has been broken and you can see into the room, suggesting this occurred as someone outside tried to unlock the door through the hole. I suspect this door and this theatre hold many interesting mysteries and stories.
