Sample Images from the new Canon EOS M5 Camera

Marty CohenCameras, Canon19 Comments

I recently purchased Canon’s newest Mirrorless camera the EOS M5. Mirrorless cameras are smaller and lighter than the usual DSLR, like my Canon 6D. There are other differences as well, but I was anxious to have a semi-professional camera that I could carry more easily and not have it kill my back.

I went down to Pebble Beach on a sunny day about 1:30 in the afternoon (not the best lighting for photography). Below are some samples of the images I made that day.

  1. Marty- I’m not surprised that the images taken with your new Canon are crisp and dynamic…. cuz you are the photographer!
I’m impressed with the fact that these great shots werenrg taken with a small, light Canon.
Although I like the images taken with my 50D, while traveling I’ve been using the small Sony Cybershot DSC RX 100. I will check out the new smaller Canon and compare it with the Sony.
Happy New Year to you and Cathleen.

  2. Nice! Great offshore waves. Too bad there were no surfers to catch pix of.
Still looking for one here-thinking Olympus OM-D E-M10 MarkII (not the professional model, but I am a rank amateur at best).

  3. Love the photos. I have to learn more about mirror less photography. My ‘older’ D90 with 16-300 lens is heavy?

    1. Thanks Penny. So far I’m happy with this camera. It’s small size means it’s a little easier to accidentally hit buttons on the back but I think I’ll adjust to that eventually. It old be so much easier to travel with this one!

  4. Expect some amazing heavy weight images from the new light weight camera. Looking forward to them. Wishing you a very Happy New Year!!

    1. Thank you Susan. Glad you like them. This can become the perfect camera for traveling too given its small size and light weight. I started thinking about that many months ago when we were planning our trip to see you and Randy (although, ultimately, this particular camera did not get released until the end of November). I didn’t want to lug all that heavy equipment with me even though I knew my the old camera was great to use. So, so far, I’m really happy with this new one. Ebay is likely to be seeing my older camera soon. Let’s see how well it works for me at the New Year’s family Japanese food celebration.

  5. Beautiful shots and so clear with vivid colors. Like being there! I love my canon too. I bought it because of your wonderful photography.
