This photo was taken with a Canon EOS 40D, EF17-40mm f/4L lens, 1/20 sec at f/22, ISO 200 on SanDisk Extreme IV Digital Film. Post-processing was done with Nik Viveza 2 and Color Efex Pro 3, plus Silver Efex Pro 2 to provide the vignette.

    1. Kevin, thank you very much. I believe that I did use the Darken/Lighten Center filter on this as I do on many of my photos because it’s a more subtle and more controllable vignette. But, I do know that I also used Silver Efex Pro 2’s vignette. In my usual workflow, when I want some degree of vignette, I will start with the Darken/Lighten Center filter in CEP 3.0 for the reasons I mentioned above. Then, if needed for the effect I want, I’ll add a vignette from Silver Efex Pro 2 and apply the Luminosity Blend Mode.

If you liked this sunset photo, take a look at this multi-image panorama where I used Nik Viveza 2 + Color Effex Pro 3.0 (Brilliance/Warmth + Tonal Contrast + Darken/Lighten Center), and Silver Efex Pro 2 for added vignette. It’s one of my favorites. https://mscgallery.com/blog/2011/08/22/amazing-pebble-beach-clouds-at-sunset-a-donation/

  1. Beautiful shot . . . golden glow, the clouds look amazing and I’m drawn into the sky blue opening of the clouds, where that small cloud floats in the middle.
