1964 Chevy Corvair Convertible – Tower Classic Car Show, Fresno

Here’s the car I dreamed of having when I was 20 years old. I eventually did get a used Corvair, but not a convertible. This image was shot at the Tower Classic Car Show in Fresno, California.

This photo was taken with a Canon EOS 6D, EF24-105mm f/4L IS lens, 1/640 sec at f/11, ISO 200 captured on a Lexar 400x SDXC UHS-1 memory card

  1. My first car was a ’62 Corvair Monza coupe. It was in terrible shape and I paid just $100. It was actually pretty fun to drive, a “poor man’s Porsche.”

I drove the heck out of it until the motor blew up. Then I rebuilt the engine using a book I bought at the auto parts store with some help from my Dad. Got it running again and eventually sold it…. for $100.

It’s good to know that we are Corvair soul brothers Marty….. “Unsafe at any speed!”

    1. Nice coincidence… Actually, as I think about it, I can’t remember exactly what year mine was. But I had a Turbo Charged Coupe, I believe it was also a Monza.

  2. Actually saw a car just like this onthe road in Portland last week. It was a perfect blue bird day in the NW and he was tooling down the highway with a big grin on his face!
