This month marks the 2 year anniversary of our Africa journey to Kenya and Tanzania. Like many of the non-Africa photos in my library, there are still quite a few from Africa that I have not worked with yet and they have been sitting on my computer waiting for the right time. So, now feels like the right time to “revisit” my Africa photo library and find new photos you haven’t seen before and others you may have seen, but I want to re-process and re-publish. Ngorongoro Crater Watering Hole

Ngorongor Crater in Tanzania is one of the most interesting and beautiful areas we visited in Tanzania. Although experiencing a drought at the time of our trip, it was still a rich and fertile landscape with a dense concentration of wildlife inhabiting the grassland, swamps, forests and lakes in the crater. The completely enclosed circular crater is about twelve miles across, with steep walls of over 2,000 feet. We were at an altitude of approximately 7,500 feet above sea level.

This is a photo you should definitely click on to enlarge. It is an HDR image created from 3 different hand-held images captured at different exposures, then post-processed with Photomatix Pro. The images were taken with a Canon EOS 40D, EF17-40mm f/4L lens, ISO 400 on SanDisk Extreme IV Digital Film.
