Reflections

Reflections is Acrylic Resin sculpture by artist Bruce Beasley of Oakland, CA in 1977.

While at the Steinbeck Center in Salinas recently, I walked into one of the side exhibit rooms because there was a photography exhibit in there. Walking in, I was visually captured by this large acrylic sculpture on display the room. I walked around it and got up close and could see so many different reflections in the piece. The colors of the beautiful wood interior room structure and the art work on the walls were being distorted by the angles in the acrylic.I knew I had to photograph it up close to capture the different reflections flowing through the piece. It was so much fun to spend time looking at it from many different angles. The image above is just one of the many shots I took.

I also wanted you to be able to appreciate the art in its entirety which is the image below:

  1. I see eyes, and other organic shapes . . . I like the “swoopy” lines and the the way you caught the light and reflection in them.
