  1. Is this the view from Uta’s living room? I remember the empty lot, I think, but not the sofa. It takes a short while to notice that there is a sofa in an empty lot but then, it really takes you by surprise. The black and white makes it a Stephen King kind of image – a little spooky.

    1. Yes, it’s the view from Uta’s living room window. It certainly conjures up different things for different people. I looked forward to hearing what stories people might create in their minds for this image.

  2. Being there when you took the shot; it was great to hear you ‘talking thru the shot’ then naming it. Wonderful. Perfect in black and white.

  3. Wow, Marty! As someone who used to work with the homeless, this photo just screams symbolism. I remember my mentor teaching me to respect the spaces we worked. He explained to me that when you walk the streets, sidewalks and vacant lots where the homeless live, you are walking through peoples’ living rooms, peoples’ bedrooms, peoples’ offices–you just can’t see the walls.

    Wonderful shot, Marty!

  4. YOU MOVED!?
PERFECT IMAGE FOR B&W- AS IT ‘SCREAMS’ STARK, EMPTY, COLD,AND LONELY. GREAT STORY TELLING WITH ONE PHOTO!

    1. Thanks Marc. No, didn’t move 🙂 And yes, I felt exactly the same way you did about this. There is an actual story, but I’ll tell it sometime in the future. I’m glad you liked it in black & white. Me too…
